What's it about?

So what's it all about?
Anything to do with Kemptown Brighton politics and the Election 2010 (I think it's now grown to proper noun status)...from my perspective...which means rather tongue-in-cheek. Now moved on to cover the local East Brighton by-election Oct 2012.

Who is Spratticus?
I am Spratticus. No really I am. East Kemptown resident of four years or so and rather enjoying it...so I thought I'd share my perspective and any snippets of news if they come my way.

On a personal note I am a chap, straight, married, late 30s (but only for another two weeks...that is the age element...being a man, hetro and married aren't changing!!), no kids, freelance in marketing, politically aware (although I wouldn't say active) and I do like tea...not usually with the addition of a whale.

What's your political leaning?
This is a little bit irrelevant as this isn't a blog with a particular political drum to bang. Just observations across the board on what strikes me as odd, ironic, perverse (politically or socially), dumb or just plain wrong.

For the record, left-of-centre, EU-accepting (rather than supporting or Euro-sceptic).

What's it got to do with a whale in a tea cup?
Well...not much. I've just been laughing a bit lately about the increasing fashion for referring to 'the elephant in the room' (usually in reference to the budget deficit and the complete skirting of the issue by the political parties in the run up to the 2010 national election). Everyone is using the phrase - it's like a media virus. Anyway, The Elephant In The Room was already taken so A Whale In My Tea Cup it is...and perhaps that's a better description of the size of the deficit and the scale of ignoring it!!

Hope it's your cup of tea.
